India Cement: Stood the test of Time

The year was 1946. The Second World War was ended and political freedom was prevalent in the country. It was then The India Cements Ltd. originated its humble moorings in the shape of a cement factory at Talaiyuthu, a nearly unmapped tiny village in Tirunelveli district in the Tamil Nadu State. As one of the oldest Indian corporates, set up in 1946, the company established its first plant in 1949 at Sankarnagar (Talaiyuthu).

The company is indeed an inventor enterprise for the duration of the post-independence era to convert into a public limited company. Its first annual report appeared on 21.4.1947. The prospectus of the company was satisfactorily received and its public issue was oversubscribed.

Milestones:

 The company has to 7 integrated plants in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. One plant is located in Rajasthan (by its subsidiary Trinethra Cement Limited) and 2 Grinding units, one each in Tamil Nadu as well as Maharashtra.

The capacity of the organization has been magnified after the merger of Trinetra Cement Ltd as well as Trishul Concrete Products Ltd.
